Along the edge of the city’s historic center, in the Villanova district, we were commissioned to restyle the interiors of several apartments created from the subdivision of the original property. The apartment in question, a three-room type, is characterized by an unusual layout. The main challenge was to turn constrained spaces, exposed pillars, and skewed walls into an asset, giving the various rooms a distinctive character starting from seemingly disharmonious elements.

Beyond a small entrance, the space opens onto a visually striking open space.

The choice of materials such as wood and black marble results in a sophisticated yet very bold combination, expressing a delicate strength enlivened by the linear and decisive lighting choices in form, yet soft in tones.

The pillar that almost impertinently protruded from the wall was strategically integrated into the living room wall that houses the sofa to create a pair of illuminated pilasters that, in their simplicity, serve as the backdrop to an intimate yet characterful living area.

The glazed frame that defines the TV wall creates an episode of continuity with the master bedroom, an unusual and curious window between interior spaces that divides and unites the living and sleeping areas, the latter completely shielded by the hallway door that blends with the kitchen cabinets as if it were part of them.

The use of contrasting color materials that repeat in the various rooms allowed for the creation of a decisively flavored project where each space is strategically and purposefully utilized.
